Making the videos are the best way I keep myself accountable because I have to admit to the whole internet when I break my buying ban.
I also started a new challenge where I am reading books I bought in 2020. It's called Read it or Weed it TBR VETS. I read books that I have owned for 5+ years and this challenge has been a great way for me to get through some books I usually ignore in favour of newer purchases. I have found a few new favourites along the way and that has made me very happy.
I have been thinking about finances quite a bit recently as we started looking to buy a house and I looked at all the unread books on my shelf and said "how much money have a wasted that I could have added to my down-payment fund??" definitely a wake-up call for me that having so many unread books is potentially throwing money down the drain that I could have used better.
Goals: Get caught up with YouTube posting. Try to include financial tracking into TBR Zero in some way. Keep going with Read it or Weed it. I am "currently reading" 16 books and I'd like to finish some of the ones I have been putting on pause. Ideally I'd like that number to half itself and go down to 8 or lower.
What are your reflections and goals for the rest of 2025?

Sorry for being a bit absent here, life got in the way. I did get a bit off track during this time and I bought a few books along the way... so I think I went a bit backwards oops.
I hope you all fared a bit better than I did. Let's check in, are you on track or did you take a detour?

Mood readers unite!! Hahaha honestly I would have been able to read double the amount from TBR last year if I ONLY read from my shelves, but sometimes the mood really isn't there.
I've been watching lots of people making it exciting for themselves by doing TBR jars or random number generators which I might try in future. But I'm first focusing on trying to finish series I'm in the middle of or especially ones where I just have ONE book left to finish lol, that way it narrows down the choices a bit more (I find when I have too many options I don't know what to read)
Also reading a variety of genres at once helps me from getting bored lol.

Awwh that's okay Laura! I think having a goal to buy "intentionally" is a good way to go about it. I make exceptions for my birthday and Christmas but I think I'm going to give myself a 5-book limit for each until I get this tbr under control haha.

I feel that draining feeling! Definitely encourage you to take breaks and read some library books in the inbetween to spice things up a bit

Awesome Laura! I think starting with achievable goals for where you're at in your life is the best thing.

1. Finish rereading "Catching Fire" and "Mockingjay" – this would conclude my Hunger Games reread and I'll finally be able to get to "Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" and "Sunrise ..."
Fantastic goals Josephine!! I hope you're enjoying your Hunger Games reread and that your move is going okay!

I only read two books this month. Took me forever to get through The Invisible Life of Addie Larue, but Sunrise on the Reaping was a great way to end the month. It has given me th..."
Laura those are two fantastic books to read! Glad you enjoyed them as they are some of my favs!!
Figuring out what you like to read is such a rewarding journey but can definitely take some trial and error. My advice - trust your gut over social media haha.

–I didn't get as much reading done as I wanted too, I ended up in a situation I find myself in every now and again where there are too many things I want to read and I can't ..."
So relatable Josephine! I often feel like the first quarter of the year is so quick, it's difficult to feel like you're progressing in such a short amount of time, but I love looking at the year in chunks like this to see if any patterns emerge and I had a similar occurence last year around the same time haha.

Proud of myself for still reading and every month I have read at least 3 books from my TBR!!!
I don't want reading to feel like a chore, so I'm happy I wanted to do some rereads and would rather do that than force myself to read books I'm not interested in at the time. There is something really comforting about rereads and I think when I feel stressed I like returning to that comfort and that's okay.

I thought this month we can share our TBR Zero goals and update here how we're doing with them :D
My April goals include:
1. Organising my bookshelves and sharing a video about it
2. Finishing some series I'm in the middle of
3. Organising my reading spreadsheet!!
4. Getting up to date with TBR Zero sharing on Socials
The last half of April I'll have school holidays (I'm a teacher) so hopefully I'll some time to get organised hehe. I think I do better when I am organised and have a monthly routine and set TBRs every month and update my spreadsheets, so I need to get back into that routine after moving houses.

How did March go??
I personally got a bit sidetracked by my Hunger Games reread and the new book... hehe oooops anyone else??
I'm also feeling really nostalgic and in the mood to reread some books (which doesn't help my goal haha)
In total I think I only read 3 books towards my goal in March, BUT I had a fantastic time reread The Hunger Games and Sunrise on the Reaping was the only book I wanted to read and I'm so happy I did (even though it ruined me for a week and gave me a book hangover).

Oh my gosh getting halfway to any goal is AMAZINGGG well done!!! You're making such great progress, thank you for sharing!!

Let us know how your reading goals fared in February and what your plans are for March.

I think it's doable even just on one bookshelf, I've seen some people have their TBR at the bottom and the read books at the top etc, worth a shot even if you think you don't have enough "Space", if they all fit the space is there, just takes a reshuffle haha.

That's so great!! Keep going!!
I can relate to the brain-hurting at seeing series being separate, I just separated mine this weekend and I'm finding it is great motivation to read them to get them all back together again haha.

Congrats on meeting a goal and finishing The Poppy War!!
Rediscovering what you like is a FANTASTIC goal!! I have been feeling bad about being disinterested in books that I've owned for years, but I'm not the same person I was 10 years ago so it's completely fine to like or want to read different books compared to my 19-year-old-self haha.

I just finished another one on my physical TBR, and I am feeling good!
It was a collection of H.P.Lovecrafts stories and the language was a bit odd so it took me some time as I am not a nat..."
That's such great progress!!!
I can relate to the "not wanting these stories to end" feeling but I have reminded myself that they will never really "end" they will always be there to return to in rereads and I LOVE rereading books and visiting old friends, so that's been really motivating knowing that I'm figuring out which books I want to read again and again and in the end those are the only ones worth keeping on my shelf - the rest are just gathering dust.

Let us know how your reading goals fared in February and what your plans are for March.
I read quite a few more books in Feb vs Jan so I was REALLY pleased about that. I feel like I was in a bit of a reading slump and we were moving house so it was challenging at first. Eventually I got really into it and finished book after book.
I didn't read as many from my shelf as I would have liked, I think I read a few too many digital books that I didn't own, and I have been doing a few reread too.
So in terms or reading: good, in terms of project tbr 0: could be more focussed!
So that is my goal for March, to prioritise my Physical books again now that they are all unpacked! I also want to organise them and potentially separate my TBR from my read books entirely. Does anyone else do that? Or do you keep them mixed?
PS check out the Challenges section in the group to set your own Physical TBR goal!!

I had a bit of a slow start to the year, and I've been travelling overseas the whole month. So I wasn't sure I'd be able to read much but luckily I have found some digital versions of books I own so I am still making progress, I think around half the books I've read this month I own physical copies of. I was saving my Japanese translated fiction and some other Japan related books for the trip but I'm also loving Daisy Haites: The Great Undoing!!
I am looking forward to getting home next month because we're moving so I need to reorganise my bookshelves and I'm considering separating my unread from my read books, do any of you do that?
Overall I'm happy with how January has been going all things considering, I've read less than in previous Januaries but I am trying to enjoy being out and exploring and not get too stressed about reading goals this year. I've set my overall goal to 100 and my TBR Zero goal to 50.
PS check out the Challenges section in the group to set your own Physical TBR goal!!

That sounds like a really achievable goal! What book are you starting with?
