I downloaded my oldest NetGalley book in November 2013.

This book is a 3 books in one file that is a bit over 1,800 pages.

I am most likely never going to read this book.

I am holding reviews for HarperCollins titles. I have read a couple and submitted a couple of sentences regarding the book on NetGalley with the note that my full review will be posted once the strike is settled.

I also use both physical and digital books and often combination of the two. I happen to have a lot of physical books but you don't need them to have a successful bookstagram account.

Actually if you are able to send the book to Kindle, the books do stay in your Kindle account under documents forever. I have downloaded over 600 books from NetGalley to my Kindle device and they are all still there. Some have been there since 2013.
There was one book that the file had somehow been corrupted and I couldn't get it to download on my new Kindle but I was able to read it on my older device.

If the file is not available to send to Kindle, then you have to deal with expiration dates.

If you use the Kindle app or a Kindle device, the books will stay in your account forever. With apps like NetGalley Shelf, there is an expiration date. My recommendation would be to use the Kindle so that you don't have to worry about losing access.

Donna, you are my people! I don't feel so alone.

I now keep a folder in my email for widgets too and only download them when I am ready to start reading the books. I think my biggest issue now is the emails that they send out letting you know that an book is read now for a very limited time. In those cases, I sometimes act before giving it enough thought.

I haven't updated my progress in a while either. My oldest is still from 2013 but I have made a lot of progress overall.

I hope to get some of these read soon. I am down to my last 2 Edelweiss books so next year I will be putting all of my focus on this NetGalley backlog.

Obviously it is best to read and review the books that we get from NetGalley on time. I am sure that publishers would prefer a late review to no review. Anytime we are talking about their books to our audience could potentially mean additional sales. I don't feel like I am offending anyone by reviewing a book that I missed several years ago.

Donna, I am afraid that you will have to slack off for a long time to get that trophy from me. lol

I still have 3 books that I downloaded in 2013 to read. I am not even going to talk about 2014 or 2015 but I will say that I have more than 40 books on my shelf that I downloaded prior to Oct 2016.

If I don't finish a book, then I post why I couldn't finish on Goodreads and NetGalley and move on. If I finish a book, then I post my review in all of the places that I would post any other review. I feel like I would lose some credibility as a reviewer if I treated a book that I didn't care for differently than one that I enjoyed. The only thing that I do differently if refrain from sharing much about the book on social media.

I have an 87% ratio so I don't think that these are really hurting me but I am trying to chip away at the backlog one book at a time.

I had a review take about 2 weeks to post recently but it eventually did.
