peggy - i’ve read most of that lehane series as well, along with many of his other novels. have you read any tana french? if not she’s got a great series with detectives based in dublin. while it’s a series - in that they are all dublin detectives - each book follows a different detective, who was usually the partner in the previous book. however, each book can stand alone. if you decided to try them, i’d recommend beginning with “faithful place”, which is the 3rd book.
i am currently reading vandermeer’s borne and am about to begin JE’s lawnboy!

the majority of my yoga experience has been on the wii fit :)

yoga at a brewery sounds like my kind of yoga!

hi guys!!! I've got a jack and coke and have been reading stiff: the curious lives of human cadavers, a book i started ages ago that i kept renewing when I was working at the library. I finally got my own copy! hope all of you are fantastic! I'm so glad it's Friday.

cool! i've walked to hemingway's birthplace in oak park, IL. it was at night though, so we couldn't go inside. That's a really lovely area, with a lot of frank lloyd wright designed homes and buildings. i've heard the poe house has had a lot of vandalism and has actually been shut down for a period the last couple of years.

and welcome to laima as well! glad to have you in our group.

hi katie! welcome to the group!

thank you so much smarty kate! i wish i could shove myself into a box and come. looks like a fun group of dorks this year.

hiya! this place looks so great, i'm so sad i won't be there with you all. i am wondering, where do i send a box of goodies? to smarty-kate or to je? or could i send directly to the cabins (though i'm not sure if that would work...)? it would be a medium size package, semi heavy... any thoughts? looking forward to hearing all about your adventures. love you guys!

i just read it and loved it! i commented over in facebook how it reminds me of a shirley jackson story. i could totally go for living in a place like that.

theraflu seems to be kicking in... goodnight all.

i even get cold in the gulf water. hiking to a lighthouse sounds lovely. and i would love to read ask the dust with you later on. i had intended on reading the marquez, but my copy is somewhere boxed up. i've gotten my dad started on blood meridian! he's turning into quite the reader.

thank you, i hope i do too. i want to see paranorman! when i do i will be sure to check out their teeth. :)

hey! i actually had lasagna tonight too. mine was handmade by stouffers. :P yes, my theraflu is doused with the whiskey. i need the help to sleep, since i slept most of the day.
we just got back from florida. when we first got there the waves were good for boogie boarding; the girl had fun. the next day the water was much calmer and we were able to snorkle.

hi everyone! i'm about to drink some theraflu mixed with honey and whiskey (since it's so nasty...), i have a head cold. i hate being sick in the summer! it's the pits.
confession: i haven't read ask the dust

have fun you guys, i wish i could come!

oh, i liked it too, i know the feeling of going through books, etc not knowing what the heck questionable substance is all over them.
i just had to look up palimpsest b/c you're way smarter than i am and i had no idea what that was... :)

p.s. HI!

a book about beets! and goats! :)
i didn't remember mo not liking life of pi, but i don't remember a lot of stuff. i know i liked it.
