I didn't complete my challenge, I just started to read books that I have owned for a while and went after them.
I did complete 44 books for the year which was quite bit more than my goal of 30 books so I consider that victory!
I'm going to try the pop sugar challenge and see how far I'll get.
Happy 2017 everyone!

The Couple Next door was ok (3/5). It's a fast read so if you are struggling getting into a book it's a good one to pick.

I finished The Couple Next Door and just trying to choose a new book from my mass collection.
How was Cress?

I finished Snow Falling on Cedars which I enjoyed right up until the ending. I'm reading Canadian Pie at this week which I am liking so far.
Did you like Girl on the Train? I personally didn't care for it all.

Great progress Tara. That's interesting you found a book that strikes a chord with your own family history. I finished Fall on Your Knees which was fairly depressing but well written. It's been on my bookshelf for years and I enjoyed reading it although the subject matter was tough at times to deal with.
Right now I'm reading Snow Falling on Cedars for my book club selection for December. I'm enjoying it so far but I'm struggling with my sleep this week so I feel like I can't keep my eyes open long enough to read more than a page.
I have three books I set aside to read before the end of the year and I'm still hopeful to get through them. These were books that again were sitting on my bookshelf for years.
Happy reading everyone and can you believe it's already December??

I kinda gave up on my last remaining prompts and focused on reading books that I already owned that have been sitting on my shelf for over a year and in some cases two to three years. I'm about halfway done Fall on Your Knees and that's been my progress for the week.

I finished The Chaperone, The Humans and Live Fast Die Hot last week. I quite enjoyed the Chaperone and would probably read more about Louise Brooks. I have read 40 books for the year so far and probably will end up reading about 4 more. That elusive goal of 52 books has escaped me once again. For next year I have already thought of some prompts like "Give an author you didn't enjoy another chance" and "Complete all books for book club even if you aren't attending" and would aim to read 30 books.

Tara your Halloween plans sound pretty epic. We did the train of terror on Saturday night and then we headed over to a friends house on Halloween to give out candy. He got close to 200 kids knocking on his door.
My goal is pretty similar to yours Tara. I finished my goal number a couple of months ago but by the looks of it I won't finish my prompts. None of the books that I chose are holding my interest and I can't seem to concentrate while listening to audio books either. Right now I'm reading The Chaperone and I'm enjoying it but of course it doesn't fit into any of my current prompts.
I haven't heard of those books Charline but the synopsis on them look quite interesting. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on them.
Happy reading everyone!

I gave up (temporarily I hope) my Nelson Mandela book...I think it will be one of these coffee table books that I will pick up here and there but I'm unwilling to push through it at this time. I had a couple of audio books but I'm also finding it very hard to concentrate enough to listen to them. I picked up The Chaperone and reading that this week. It doesn't fit into any of my prompts but since I'm struggling with the those books I chose for them I figured a break is needed.

I finished Clara Hughes memoir last week for the prompt a book about mental illness and this week I'm hitting two of my prompts. I got Running the Books: The Adventures of an Accidental Prison Librarian for a Goodreads recommendation and I'm using Mandela: The Authorized Portrait as a political memoir even though it isn't his memoir. I tried reading Hard Choices for this prompt originally but I had to stop as I couldn't get into it. The Mandella book is huge though and I have feeling it's going to take some time to get through.
I think that is a really neat idea Charline to try out. It might be cool to have us a prompt for next year. I read the same book but didn't overly enjoy it.

Hi Charline, I read Mr. Penumbra's a few months ago. Curious as to what you think of it.

Two days without power? Yeeech. Glad it's back on today at the very least.
I'm making progress with my prompts. I read Stuart Little for a Children's Classic but it wasn't nearly as good as Charlotte's Web. I'm currently reading Open Heart, Open Mind for a book about mental illness. I think I'll hit all but one of my prompts by the end of the year.
Happy Reading everyone.

I have been doing pretty good with my challenge. I completed the total number of books a few weeks back (30) and now actively searching for books that fit my last few prompts.
Recently I have read The Little Paris Bookshop, The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing and reread one of my all time favourites The Godfather.
How far are you away from finishing Tara?

I finished A Spool of Blue Thread last week which I enjoyed (4 stars).
Finishing up a book I started as an audio book but found for $1.99 as an ebook this week. I'm already hearing the voices the author used when I read the dialogue.
It's crazy how some books can invoke that emotions in us Katherine. Glad you found one.
Happy reading everyone :)
