Hi all! Starting up the book-of-the-month suggestions for December 2023 in the BOOKSHELF CATCH-UP category. Top 4 will be selected for the poll.For this category, you can nominate any book that the group has previously read. For a list of books that the group has previously read and discussed, please see the Bookshelf HERE.
Books featured as a group reread within the last twelve months are not eligible. See Message 2 below.
Only one nomination is allowed per person, per category. If you nominate more than one book only your first nomination will be added toward the tracking post. Please continue to second as many nominations that interest you!
Page numbers are now required for every nomination. To find out how many pages a book has; go to the book's page on Goodreads. look under the section titled "GET A COPY" and above the book's ISBN number.
Nominations end Midnight PST October 16.
Lina - No, books started before October do not count towards the challenge.
The most popular editions page count should be used for every book physical, ebook, or audiobook. (I thought this was in the rules I will get it added)

I like to read horror and mysteries during October so I am going to start with Roald Dahl's Book of Ghost Stories. I also like to listen to audiobooks while I clean the house and I just got Daisy Jones and The Six from Libby today, so i am planning to start listening to that on the first to get that extra 0.5 point as well!
Mike - Audiobooks count too! Just look up the book here on goodreads to find the page numbers.
Hey Tash, no stupid questions! Roald Dahl would count for normal full points. All the books I have read of his don't have a lot of illustrations.
Hi Pony!Laura is correct! You could start a book in October and even if you didn't finish it until December it would still count for Decembers round robin.
Yes, anyone can sign up at anytime during the next 3 months! The teams are very even right now, but they change a lot throughout the course of the competition. Remember that the amount of books read is divided by members who participated, so it shouldn't have a huge impact if the teams are even or not, but it is still nice to see the houses fairly equal!

I am officially joining team Merry! I am 31 years old and live in Colorado. I work at a preschool and bought an old house that needs a lot of renovations, so I am constantly in the middle of a house project or three. It has been a rough year with several people passing away and that has affected my reading so I am really hoping this challenge is going to help me make up for the rest of the year.

That means The Hound of Baskervilles is worth 2.5 points and not 1.5 points! I'll message the other prefects and let them know.

This can be by publishing date or when you added it to your TBR.
This is the hardest time I've had in 8 years trying to decide which house to join. Usually I know right away, but I love Sam and Merry both so much! lol...this might have to come down to a coin toss or whichever house has less members.
