35559 I got home far later than expected last night, so predictably did then not manage to finish the last 50 pages of my Luxembourg book haha.

Absolutely knackered today :-p

35559 Oh, and that also completes our 7th itinerary!!!

:-D

We can now dive into the 8th one.

I should finish my Luxembourg book tonight after our work summer party - those 50 pages should be doable... I hope... haha.

35559 Finished #21.

Desert Flower by Waris Dirie
Book: Desert Flower by Waris Dirie

Interesting read. I'm not generally one for (auto)biographies, but the writing style made it easy enough to read. For the content itself, not always as easy to read, especially when she talks about female circumcision.

Edinburgh is lovely - hope you enjoyed your stay! :-)

So annoying though when real life gets in the way of reading.. it should stop doing that ;-))

35559 Big books are good, too! They bring a fair amount of points so there's always that, even if you don't reach your cap - I personally never do. I generally read the number I sign up with but I've been on quite a reading bend these past few months.

Which fantasies are you waiting for from the library?

35559 Here's your regular friendly reminder about the end of the month and the upcoming third (and final :-( ) month of the challenge!

COUNTDOWN to Start of Month 3: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

Please have all your completion posts in before the countdown hits 0.
Any and all books! Whether they fit for a task or not. Every book counts!

======

Some more maintenance ;-)

Please also keep in mind that the BOM for The Berry Pickers will have its last day on the 16th, so if you're still planning on reading it and get some extra points for the discussion questions, now is the time!

The current BOM for My Friends will run until 2nd August, so you have a bit of time yet to read and answer DQs.

The next BOM for The Sword of Kaigen will start in a few days and it's a big book, so lots of yummy page points ;-)

======

Mini 1 - Novels Around the World - Update

Our 7th itinerary is almost completed! And we're now reading mostly midlevel or hard countries for more points.

That is very well done!! :-)

======

Mini 2 - Travelling Around the World - Update

These are our remaining tasks, all being read for.

24. Read a book tagged "Diary" at least 10x
--> Keely - The Diary of Samuel Pepys (doorstop, takes a while)

46. Read a book that covers multiple generations
--> Nistha - Shivaji, the Great Maratha (doorstop, takes a while)

48. Read a book set in a completely fictional world
--> E - The Sword of Kaigen

97. Read a book with MPG Travel
--> Logan - A Walk in the Park

The rest is finished! Awesome work, team!!

======

Mini 3 - World Wheel - Update

We've just received our new country - Spain!

We are almost done with UK (2 more books left) and then we can request a new country again.

We're nearing the half-way point for the countries. Currently we have another 14 to read for if we want to read for them all ;-)

======

Mini 4 - Food Around the World - Update

Part 1:

We still need the following food items in text:

- ube
- pierogi
- naan
- pho
- kimchi
- quinoa

Part 2:

We've finished quite a few specialties already, namely:

- Pastel de Nata
- Smørrebrød
- Momo

And we're only missing one letter for these:

- Souvlaki
- Zapiekanka
- Cevapi

======

Let's rock that last month of the challenge, ok??

35559 For my part, to give you a little update, I'll finish both my Somalia and my Luxembourg books for Mini 1.

I'm also hoping to finish Dracula for Mini 2 - or wherever it will fit in case Keely will speed-read her way to the finish line before me hehehe.
Yes, I also started re-reading Dracula because all this talk of the book made me want to do so, to see if I still enjoyed the book.

35559 And as promised, here it is!

COUNTDOWN to Start of Month 3: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

6 more days!

Read like the wind!!
Some of you have time yet to reach the books per month you signed up with, some of you can use the time to read a few extra to reach their cap.

Let's make the most of these last 6 days of the month!! :-)

Once you've hit your cap, please hold off on finishing until the next month rolls around, otherwise the books cannot be used, and that would be a shame :-)
