So sorry for the amount of time it's taking

It might be good to have a boy as one of your characters, yeah. Just remember to keep all of your original stuff in case you decide further down the track that having a boy doesn't work out so well.
I hope you don't change Beck into a boy, because she is good as Cris's friend.

I think with the sci fi/fantasy genre it's a lot more complicated process because you have to add in those elements and if you are bringing your own brand new concepts in you have to find a way to expain to the rest of us without going "Here! This is what it means!" *insert definiteions*.
I myself am trying to write three paranormal books but so far am struggling to add in everything so it flows and seems natural.
So I think writing down the entire story first and then going through the editing process may be a good idea. Just remember to keep all of your drafts!! You may change something but then at a later point want to change it back.
Oh, and have you thought about writing a glossary/index type thing explaining the foreign concepts to your readers? That might help! J.R. Ward does it in her Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

@ Amberlinn: It's entirely up to you. And I know I'm not the best writer either, there are lots of mistakes in my own work. But think carefully, because I will be blunt, and sometimes that's not what people are ready to hear. Also, if there are things you want me specifically to overlook then I will.
@ Lydia: Okay, I'll ignore grammar =D

I will be going in order with the reviews. So I have just finished reviewing Whitnee's story and will now be moving on to Esther's.
Hopefully I get that one done by today as well, then on to Megan's work!
The reason I take a while is because I review each chaoter, not the story as a whole. That way I can point out the smaller details.

@ Megan: Okay, I'll ignore the grammar =D

Just letting you know that I will be available to read and review your work. Now I am not a published author (yet) nor am I a qualified editor as such, but if you have some work that you'd like someone to read and critique, then I'd be happy to.
But please note that if you post links to your stories here I will not sugar coat what I have to say. I operate under complete honesty, blunt and harsh as it may seem. I do however give praise and credit where it is due, so don't think I'm out to just tear down your work.
That said, be careful and think hard about your decision, because a lot of people don't take criticism well, and sometimes it disheartens people to the point where they no longer wish to continue. And steering people away from writing is not my intention.
If there are specific things in your story you wish me to ignore, then post them with the link. Same if you wish me to look closely at certain things.
Lastly, if you do not agree with what I have to say about your work, then great! Seek another opinion. Because if you're not satisfied, you shouldn't blindly follow what one fool says to you.
Thanks.
Any questions feel free to ask.
