TM’s comments from the Anecdotes, Oddities & Observations group.

My pet peeve:
▪ The use of the same name(s) for two characters that have no connection whatsoever in a book or series.
Ex: Dr. Kallam/Mrs. Kallam

Reason Why It Is A Pet Peeve:
▪ It creates an unnecessary connection in my mind as I continue to read. When I eventually realize there is no connection at all other than the characters sharing the same name(s), it makes me frustrated that this wasn't caught during the editing process. There are just so many potential names that could have been used instead.

NOTE: I do not begrudge an author for this, as the creativity and skill put into writing a book are monumental! I just really dislike the potential connection created in my mind that later proves to be nothing more than a missed edit. Just a minor pet peeve of mine 😁

I love reading a book and only realizing at the end that I had previously read it and enjoyed it just as much the second time around!
