64233 I almost DNF'd this one. I stuck it out and the ending saved it for me. The first 75% for me was just boring and drawn out and lots of Shakespeare. In the end because of the end lol I gave it 3 stars.
64233 Kate, will the sequel to Hello, Goodbye be a continuation of the story with the same characters?
64233 Hello Addicted to YA!

Our second November guest for Addicted to YA’s author feature is Kate Stollenwerck! Let’s have a warm Addicted to YA welcome for Kate here on this thread!!

description

Author Bio:
Kate, a fifth-generation Texan, was born and raised in Dallas. She graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts in history and earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law.

Kate practiced law for several years at a large firm in Chicago. She left the practice to stay home with her young daughter and pursue her dream of writing. More babies arrived and took up more time than she imagined, and not much writing took place. She finally pulled out a rusty manuscript in the summer of 2019 and has been writing ever since.

Kate resides in Florida with her husband and three children. Her debut novel, Hello, Goodbye, released on August 2, 2022.

Book Name: Hello, Goodbye

description

Book Description:

Hello, Goodbye
A charming and heartfelt novel about a girl helping her grandmother unravel an old family secret that leads to adventure and love over one unforgettable summer.

Fifteen-year-old Hailey Rogers is sure her summer is ruined when her parents force her to spend a few days a week helping her grandmother, Gigi. Although she only lives across town, she never sees her grandmother and knows little about her. But Gigi is full of surprises—and family secrets. Throw in the gorgeous boy down the street, and Hailey’s ruined summer might just be the best of her life.

When tragedy strikes and lies are uncovered, Hailey’s life suddenly falls apart. Unearthing clues from her great-grandfather in an old letter, she takes off on a road trip to solve a family mystery with the only person she can trust. The past and present collide in a forgotten Texas town, and Hailey is forced to choose what she truly values in life.

Q&A

Do you have a Guilty Pleasure book?
The Fourth Wing! Can't wait to read Iron Flame!!

What is your favorite quote?
"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." - Wayne Gretzky

What is your favorite movie and why?
The Holiday because I love a good holiday romance. Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jack Black and Christmas instantly make me happy!

What is your favorite genre to read? To write?
I love to read a good mystery/thriller, but I love to write YA. I love coming-of-age stories.

Which authors inspire you?
I am inspired by women debut authors finding success later in life - getting a "second" career. Delia Owens and Bonnie Garmus for sure.

What is the best part about being an author?
Just letting my creativity flow. I'm a pantser writer and sometimes I often surprise myself with where a story ends up going!

Give us an insight into your main character. What do they do that is so special?
She loves fiercely and will do anything for those she loves.

What was the hardest thing about writing your last book?
Killing off my favorite character. I wept as I wrote the scene.

Anything Additional to add?
I've finished the sequel to HELLO, GOODBYE. Should be coming out in 2024 at some point!!

64233 I think for me it was just less of a fantasy and more a historical romance. I would have like to have seen more fantasy and world building.

64233 Finished this one last night...well very early this morning I guess. Don't come at me but... It was just a "meh" for me. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good, to me. I will leave book 2 on my TBR but probably won't ever read it.
