721 I was in the supermarket the other day when I came across a young, blonde, woman staring fixedly at something. Intrigued, I asked what she was staring at? The orange juice she said. I looked and sure enough there was a lot of bottles on orange juice. I asked why? She looked at me and tutted " look" she said " it says, orange juice concentrate. "

Bitter Nothings Bitter Nothings by Vicki Tyley by Vicki Tyley

A thoroughly enjoyable read and a satisfying end to the challenge.

NB.Until I read The Ruin by Dervla McTiernan I had never come across the name Dervla before. Then by pure happenstance my next book was Bitter Nothings by Vicki Tyley where the main character was called Dervla.
Just coincidence or is there something sinister going on? :j

Edinburgh vernacular, "yer right, I ken what yi mean" it could have been Edinburgh or any other wet miserable place.
Translation, " You are right, I know what you mean" :D

Fantastic Sharon. How was your first day?
Ironically your emotional state mirrors mine the day I retired.
721 Heather wrote: "I gave it 4 ★ Loved the story, great debut novel. It was just missing something to make it a five star. Atmosphere? Not Irish enough?"

Not Irish enough Heather, please explain.
721 Really impressed.
I loved the suspense concerning the lack of any meaningful reason for what had occured. Cormac so often seemed on the point of a break through but was always brought up short for lack of motive. Not sure where Emma fitted in. She seemed more of an appendage than a loved partner.
The description of the weather in Galway brought back memories of my life in Edinburgh forty years ago. The rain, sleat, wind, ice and the all invasive cold. Thank God I decided to come to a land down under where women glow and men plunder . Written by Colin Hayes an expatriate Scotsman. Don't know why I put that there :D

Of course, a house doesn’t jump at all."
