Priest hails as my first book by Sierra Simone and certainly will not be my last. Ms. Simone's writing is on point keeping me intrigued throughout the entire story of Poppy and Father Tyler Bell. It's hot and dirty juxtaposed with clean and pure. I absolutely loved it.

Priest hails as my first book by Sierra Simone and certainly will not be my last. Ms. Simone's writing is on point keeping me intrigued throughout the entire story of Poppy and Father Tyler Bell. It's hot and dirty juxtaposed with clean and pure. I absolutely loved it.
This book explores the intimacy of forbidden love through a unique perspective. Told strictly from Father Bell’s point of view,

Priest romanticizes sexual dominance and fantasy through the eyes of a holy being. The relationship between Father Bell and Poppy is mult-faceted. Intensity looms throughout the pages from their first encounter. Sexual tension heats up the story with such vividly accurate representations of the struggle Poppy and Father Bell feel around each other. Romantic gestures and expressions of love leap from the text into your heart as each character, especially Father Bell, fights to understand the magnitude of what they mean to each other while the plot moves forward fluidly easily making you want to indulge in everything Father Bell has to offer. Poppy is a character who’s fierce and headstrong forging a path of righteousness for herself; a righteous that comes from giving and feeling free. Her tornado way of being whips rights into Father Bell’s life turning his carefully constructed way of life completely upside down. The journey they indulge in together was beautifully executed with the naughty.

Within the pages of Preist I discovered an intense kind of love that made me feel. That’s what I want most of all from the books I love – to feel, to understand, to sympathize, to love. And while their love is forbidden I did feel its purity. There were many times you could feel the wholeness of them together shining through, thanks to the writing of Sierra Simone with Father Bell’s inner dialogue, his actions and reactions. For a while I was worried about the lust factor rather than a love factor but Simone sold me on the characters feelings for each other. The simplicity of the story, the base desire we as humans have towards our mates, Sierra Simone captured perfectly. I’m highly impressed with author’s ability to make Erotica sacred to the point where you’re wholly believing in the soul-deep purity of the characters love. Sierra Simone, Poppy, and Father Bell have made a fan out of me.

First, I want to say I had no problem with the theme of the book. This is not why the book was a 1-star for me. I love to read a good taboo story from time to time but sadly this wasn't it. I just found this book to be weak and underwhelming with very poor character development and a very unlikeable heroine.

No doubt the book is hot, it has some scorching hot scenes. The hero is hot and definitely a good guy. However, the forbidden/taboo element is extremely weak. The book is told from the priest
First, I want to say I had no problem with the theme of the book. This is not why the book was a 1-star for me. I love to read a good taboo story from time to time but sadly this wasn't it. I just found this book to be weak and underwhelming with very poor character development and a very unlikeable heroine.

No doubt the book is hot, it has some scorching hot scenes. The hero is hot and definitely a good guy. However, the forbidden/taboo element is extremely weak. The book is told from the priest's (Tyler Bell) POV and through his actions and his inner thoughts I questioned myself why did he became a priest in the first place. He sounded like a horny frat boy most of the time, nothing about him sounded holy to me and so I had a hard time buying him as such. There's also no angst, he falls for her hard and immediately, no build up whatsoever, no real connection either.

Which brings me to the heroine, while Tyler was still like-able, I just couldn't connect with Poppy (yep, seriously that's her name). She's so beautiful, and so smart, did I mentioned she went to Dartmouth? Ugh, and she was so overwhelmed by being so rich and smart that she moved to Kansas City and became a stripper. Her whole act came off as annoying. She was also very manipulative, she comes to the church searching for absolution and wanting to be better but she contradicts herself at every turn. She deliberately seduces him and has no shame about it, no shame about throwing sexual innuendos all the time she's "confessing" and no shame about always showing up without underwear. I honestly failed to see what Tyler saw in her that made her so special other than she was hot. But oh she's so beautiful, and so smart, and she went to Dartmouth, I just couldn't get on board with that. At times, especially towards the end, I wished that they didn't end up together because of the heroine and her stupidity, and that to me is a bad sign that you're not liking the book.

Once they got together, they were just two horny, slutty teenagers who couldn't keep it in their pants. Some scenes were uncomfortable to read. The author mixes sex scenes in inappropriate places with religious references a couple of times and that just felt wrong, even for someone who is not overly religious. The sex scenes were also one too many. It got tiring at some point.

The ending of the book was also very disappointing and predictable. The author threw in a dumb communication misunderstanding (yes, Ms. Dartmouth wasn't so smart after all) and a time gap, then rushed to wrap up the story in such a ridiculous way that I just couldn't deal with the book anymore at that point. This is definitely one I do not recommend.

I've waited and waited and waited to write this review. Not because it was a bad book, but because I didn't have the words to describe how unbelievably hot this book really was. I mean, hot, young man meets hot, young woman. Sparks are bound to fly. Add in the element of the forbidden fruit and it's a recipe for some of the hottest sex I've ever encountered.

Here is where I'd like to say that I listened to this book while driving down the interstate on vacation. This is where I'd like to say DON I've waited and waited and waited to write this review. Not because it was a bad book, but because I didn't have the words to describe how unbelievably hot this book really was. I mean, hot, young man meets hot, young woman. Sparks are bound to fly. Add in the element of the forbidden fruit and it's a recipe for some of the hottest sex I've ever encountered.

Here is where I'd like to say that I listened to this book while driving down the interstate on vacation. This is where I'd like to say DON'T DO THAT! OMG. This is the kind of book you need to read or listen to while curled up in bed with a vibrator handy. A fan, a glass of water, lube (which is going to seem redundant because you're going to be ready to go without), and your favorite toy--or real live man! Doesn't matter. The point is you shouldn't listen to this while driving.

Jacob Morgan is magic on his own. I will listen to anything he puts out there. Not even joking.

But Elena Wolfe? Oh. My. Fucking. God.
I wanted to wrap myself in her voice and never leave the comfort of it. It's warm, it's sultry, it's so damn perfect that I couldn't get enough. It's one of those rare times I wanted more of the woman. And that says so much considering she was paired up with one of the hottest voices in the audiobook world.

Anyway, this isn't about the audio (although it is perfect in its own right), it's about a well-written story that left me begging for more. So. Much. More.

Father Tyler Bell can hear my confession any time he wants. And Poppy? Fuck. I'd take her too. She's magnificent. Together? Breathtaking.

Sierra Simone has a magical ability to make me want. She places each word in the exact spot it needs to be in order to pull the most emotion from a reader.
Want.
Need.
Love.
Hate.
Fear.
Pain.
Pleasure.
Arousal.
I hit every single one of these while reading Priest. It's a story I wish I could have drawn out. It was a story that needed to end so I could see what happened to the characters. It's a story that I will revisit very soon because Tyler and Poppy were electric. ...more

This book! This book was a 4.5 read for me. It was hot, amazing and a could not put down read for me. I had never read anything by Sierra Simone before, but trust me I will read everything she has written and will write going forward.

This is Sierra's first contemporary novel, and I hope not her last, but you would not know it. The writing will draw you in and not let you go.
