When I read First Touch I was completely held captive by the mysterious narrative and the erotic passion of both main characters. Completely taken with Reeve and Emily, I had such high hopes of how their story would end. Unfortunately for me these hopes were not fulfilled. Satisfying end to an intense, sexy, and thrilling story about two individuals who found love and each other in the most unexpected of places.

Hmm, where to start. I absolutely loved reading First Touch when it came out last year. The characters and story were both interesting and intriguing, the romance sexy and sometimes heartbreaking, and that cliffhanger ending? Just wow. It's been one wild ride and honestly, I felt like it would have made a lot more sense to read First Touch and La Satisfying end to an intense, sexy, and thrilling story about two individuals who found love and each other in the most unexpected of places.

Hmm, where to start. I absolutely loved reading First Touch when it came out last year. The characters and story were both interesting and intriguing, the romance sexy and sometimes heartbreaking, and that cliffhanger ending? Just wow. It's been one wild ride and honestly, I felt like it would have made a lot more sense to read First Touch and Last Kiss back to back since the second book immediately takes place immediately after the the first one.

We're introduced to the shocking revelation of Amber and let's just say, I've had my own reservations about this girl from the get-go. From the moment Emily revealed her relationship and connections to Amber in First Touch to readers, I knew something was up. At times, I was personally confused about Emily's own feelings towards this woman. It was love, but at the same time, it was also hate and jealousy. Especially if we add Reeve Sallis into the mix! And oh boy, at times I became so frustrated with Emily's wishy-washy attitude and inability to relinquish Amber's control over her life and relationship with Reeve.

As for Reeve, I actually came to love him a lot in this book. He hasn't done a complete 180 change but he was a lot more... passionate and romantic to Emily this time around. Of course, Reeve still maintained his dark and dangerous persona, especially inside the bedroom with Emily, but he has become a lot more likeable in this book. I think my favorite part was around the 87% mark-- so definitely near the end, when he finally made his intentions clear to her.

In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and its ending even though I would love an epilogue or a novella of some sort by Laurelin Paige (if she ever does decide to write one)! I did feel like the ending was sort of rushed and there were a lot of things that needed to be discussed, it was still satisfying to see Emily and Reeve finally realize what was truly best for one another. ...more

In the conclusion of Laurelin Paige’s First and Last series, book 2, she leads us down a road paved with dark secrets, danger, lust, love, friendship and jealousy. Emily Wayborn may have started down this path in search of her friend to help her, but now she is fighting for her life and her future. Who can she trust?

And now Amber is back. She is alive, barely, but alive. Emily is happy and destroyed. She loves Amber. She loves Reeve. Reeve once loved Amber and now Amber is back and fighting for In the conclusion of Laurelin Paige’s First and Last series, book 2, she leads us down a road paved with dark secrets, danger, lust, love, friendship and jealousy. This story is so angst-ridden, I thought my heart was going to burst right out of me. In First Touch Emily finally came to accept who and what she was and wanted. Realizing with the right man she could be loved and fulfilled and safe. But Reeve’s secrets and past haunt her and make her question him and herself at every turn. And at every turn there is danger and secrets that keep Emily just out of reach of what she wants more than anything.

And then there is Amber. Amber who had been her closest friend, ally and like a sister to her. Her whole life had been based around what Amber “did” for her and how she walked away from her. The life she built after Amber was because of Amber. Did she not owe Amber her happiness? Her safety? No matter the cost?
With little choices and danger at every turn, Amber, Reeve and Emily find themselves trying to find a new normal, while Reeve swears to protect them at all costs.

I struggled with Emily. I wanted her to find her happily-ever-after, but her insecurities and feelings of inadequacies held her wants, her needs, her desires at bay. She had it all at the tip of her hand, but her sense of duty did not allow her to take it. Instead she found herself questioning everything and though I completely understood where she was coming from, I just wanted to scream at her and tell her to grab it and never, ever let go.

But I did like her. Even as she drove me crazy, even as she submitted and pushed and pulled at her own desires. Because even when she wanted to submit, she also wanted to fight, to scream, and to find herself. Though she would never admit to herself, in her own way she was strong and determined.

Reeve Sallis. What can I say about Reeve Sallis? He was a man like no other. Strong, determined, controlling, dangerous, and scary. Yet, he was also so much more. Throughout the story we get glimpses of the man beneath the hard shell. Enough to let us see him as a man with his own wants and needs and a desire to be loved and taken as is. To be truly understood and accepted. Even as you doubted some of his actions, his motives were always out of love, protectiveness and yes, all about control. The man exuded power, strength and control.

As the story progresses we once again see more of Amber and Emily’s history. We understand Emily’s decision to be there for Amber and to truly understand why she makes some of the decisions she does, even when we want to scream and throw our hands up in resignation!

I loved this story, loved how fast paced and detailed it was. The suspense, secrets, twists and turns grabs the reader and never lets you go. I am a huge fan of Laurelin Paige, and stories like this are the reason why. This series is a must read!

I give Last Kiss by Laurelin Paige 5+ amazing stars.

I didn't like this one quite as much as the first one. I think Amber added a lot of crap to the story. I had called everything before the big reveal at the end, and I was so flabbergasted by a relationship based on dominance and submission had so little honesty.

I'm a slacker but I finally found time to read this book. And HOLY CRAP!!!! I don't even have words for the turmoil my emotions have gone through. Laurelin put me through a blender and spit me out. I hated this book but I loved this book. I have to come back to this review because I have to sit and rock in the corner for awhile. ...more
