Kenzie is just the right kind of heroine. Rough on the edges, soft where she should be. Ms Stephens does it again bringing a sweet bad boy while introducing us to the world of bike racing.
Sparks fly on and off the track with an uncharacteristically chemistry that only SC Stephens can deliver.
Furious Rush is a great start of a new series I can’t wait to dig in!

I was drawn to this because, yes it’s SC Stephens. But also because of the central setting - the world of super bike Motorcycle racing. It’s a sport I’ve followed (due to my husband I’ll admit) and I’ve walked the pits and witnessed too many crashes. But I love the sounds of a race (when the riders pass in a group it sounds like a swarm of bee’s) and there’s the smell of the high octane fuel. There’s so much testosterone and yes I’ve been at a few races where there were a female or two racing (w I was drawn to this because, yes it’s SC Stephens. But also because of the central setting - the world of super bike Motorcycle racing. It’s a sport I’ve followed (due to my husband I’ll admit) and I’ve walked the pits and witnessed too many crashes. But I love the sounds of a race (when the riders pass in a group it sounds like a swarm of bee’s) and there’s the smell of the high octane fuel. There’s so much testosterone and yes I’ve been at a few races where there were a female or two racing (which is empowering). In this alone, this was a fun read for me and Stephens does an amazing job creating this atmosphere on the page. As for the character element, and because it’s an SC Stephens book, there’s a good bit of angsty love-hate-love drama centering around Mackenzie Cox (Team Cox) and Hayden Hayes (Team Benneti).

The story line is set up with a VERY personal feud between the two racing teams that dictates much of the plot. Hayden is off limits to her for many reasons but mostly it's because he's on the "family feud" racing team. But Haydens' past is murky which makes him a potential suspect in potentially dangerous race related antics. But, these two do sizzle and share an instant connection that early on feels like it exist at the molecular level. Stephens does an amazing job of writing that feeling and impressing this upon the reader. For his part, Hayden's initial impact on Mackenzie is to push her to be a better racer.

It would be hard not to notice that Hayden is the star of many fantasies, both on and off her bike (or the track), and Kenzie has a very active imagination. She’s also saddled with expectations and responsibilities; her father being the team owner and her role as a female and rookie racer all play into her psyche leaving her challenged on so many levels. Their are a couple of slightly repetitive scenes but the story is fast paced with the sheer nature of the setting and Kenzies’ mixed emotions. She's rightly torn-up by her sense of loyalty to her family even though her father is a bit of a disappointment and I'm not convinced he's worthy.

There are a host of secondary characters that drive plot changes ( Nikki, Myles) and a few that add an element of suspense and danger (Hook-Up). And then there’s this Felicia. A girl that is apparently Mackenzie’s look-alike. Stephens is great at dropping her name into the story line building up the suspense of who she is and what she meant to Hayden.

In the final chapters, my imagination went crazy with the story line possibilities. A lot happens and the stage is set for maximum angst. It’s the sign of a great read; when there’s not a cliffhanger per se, but there is definitely a setup for what COULD be coming. It seems premature to worry about a follow-up, but I’m hoping that Stephens is already hard at work writing what comes next for these ill-fated lovers. 4 stars and recommendation!

Furious Rush by S.C. Stephens was one wild ride! Though a bit slow at the beginning, once it picked up, I could not put it down!

First you have Mackenzie Cox, Kenzie, the daughter of a racing legend and owner of the team she races with. She feels the pressure to succeed and earn the respect from those around her, including her father, even more so as a female in a world filled with cocky, arrogant men. But she is determined to be the best of the best. Now more than ever.

I was not overly impressed with this book. I just did not connect with it. I just did not feel the heroine (Mackenzie Cox) in this story. Now the male lead (Hayden Hayes) I liked his description but still there was something missing. I did not connect with him.

I know that Ms. Stephens is a strong well developed writer. I just did not see it in this book. It felt like too much was going on. I just can not place my finger on it but it was just awwwww. I really want to explain what did not click w ...more

Oh man. Sooooo good!

I'm not going to lie, I was SUPER excited to get a chance for an early review copy of this book. (I've had this book on preorder since Sept 2015- when I first found out about it) I loved her Thoughtless series (OH KELLAN!) and was looking forward to this new series from her. AND HOLY SEXUAL TENSION, BATMAN! Whew! This book is intense, action packed and seriously sexy. And I couldn't devour it fast enough! I loved Kellan Kyle but now seriously love Hayden Hayes, too.
