The aptly named Tease is just that, a tease. I thought I was hooked after Beg well C.D. Reiss dangled more bait and caught me this installment. This is the first time I've urged romance readers to read a billionaire/chanteuse series because of the heroine and not hunky Hero. Yes, I realize there aren't too many more in that genre, if any, and that's why. You will fall in love with Monica. She's gorgeous, yes, but more, she's funny, warm, sexy, honest and REAL. Sure, you'll love Jonathan who is also gorgeous, funny, warm, sexy, honest ouch, and fucking emotionally feeble. I still like him a lot, though.

VENTING TO FOLLOW:

Not sure how to do the SPOILER thingy, so PLEASE DON'T read on if you plan to read the series. EYES ONLY for those who have.

Isn't Jonathan just the Kevin in Jessica's life? save me, save me, save me. Thinking his ex is all-mighty when she's just an icy bitch keeping her husband tethered, just because. And aren't Monica and Jonathan lying to themselves? Jonathan hides behind his ex-wife afraid he'll get hurt again. Jessica loves that power and Jonathan loves the power that gives him in any new relationship. Monica's lying to herself that his emotional denial of her doesn't mean anything. Monica's bright, funny as hell and talented as fuck. He'd be lucky to have her. Monica is being drawn to another doomed and damaged man. How "healthy" can he be, swearing that Jessica saved him, when he's obviously emotionally bankrupt.

Screw him for telling her that her expiration date is almost up, then telling her he'll (generously) continue to fuck (with) her, but that she deserves more (better) and to always ask for what she wants (but can't have). AND THEN, he keeps her bound to him, NOT through mental bullying like Kevin, but through sexual/emotional manipulation. Different, but the same. No, different, but WORSE, because controlling her orgasms tethers her to him and that's exploiting her submissive nature. Then, he (continually sighs, as he) threatens to cut her loose when he knows what that means as a Dom. And poor Monica, because she doesn't know what giving up her submissive self means, the trust that he'll keep her (emotionally) safe, when he's promising anything BUT that. She doesn't get that when she jokes "My brain chemistry is what's totally fucked" it's essentially true. "You'll never forget your first Dom." That's how the saying goes, right?

Hell, I know I'm reading too much into this and I should just read on. This all started because I LIKE Monica so much...okay, MAYBE I have a huge girl-crush on her. Alas, nothing can ever come of it...sigh.

Darn, I wish I had some appropriately witty GIFS to insert here and there, but I don't know how to do that either. What a GR newbie loser I am!

I have no complaints. I think C.D. does better in her novellas than many authors do in a full book. I just can't stop reading, because I want to know the emotional journey of these two people. Monica held her own with Jessica and I think Kevin is an emotional drain. Everything is about him and how he feels. Yes, i agree that Monica could have had a conversation with him. But, really... would he have even understood what she was saying?

When I'm caught up with the series. I'm sure I will have wit ...more
