I'm not even sure WHY I liked these books so much. But Beg, Tease, & Submit were VERY intriguing.

I'm not sure how I felt about Drazen bring Monica into the BDSM world when she was so clueless. I don't think he educated her enough but that's my opinion. I do think that she's kidding herself to think that she's not a submissive. She definitely is, even if she doesn't want to be.

It's books like these and J.A. Huss's Rook & Ronin series that totally confuse me as to genres. When I think of "erotica" or "erotic romance", I tend to think of books that are mostly pure sex with very little character development, plot, etc., other than moving from a public domain to a private one such as a bedroom or a car in order to have sex.

And then you have authors like C.D. Reiss and J.A. Huss, who totally take that idea and trash it to bits, leaving me wondering if ever romance book I'v It's books like these and J.A. The bottom line is: who cares? I enjoyed the heck out of this read and don't care what genre it falls under. But for those of you who need to know: THIS BOOK HAS SEX IN IT. LOTS OF SEX. HOT SEX. NON MISSIONARY SEX. So if that's not your thing, don't pick this up. You'll be missing out on a sweet story, in my opinion, but if you can't deal with sex, this book series is not for you.

Well written with characters who have depth and history that is explained and demonstrated well and quickly, hot lust between characters that set your pages on fire, sex scenes that will have you reaching for something to fan your face with as you try to simmer down, and a story that keeps building, these first three books in the Songs of Submission have totally hooked me in. Jonathan Drazen has that perfect mixture of alpha and sad soul that makes women salivate. You want to soothe his hurts as you admire the way he takes care of Monica. He's educated, successful, and has a vulnerability from an old wound that has yet to be lanced fully. Monica is a delight; she's a singer who has sworn off relationships, drawn towards Jonathan, and doesn't play the same game he's used to from his "society". She says what she means and doesn't give a hoot as to when she says it, inappropriate timing or not.

Monica's relationship with Darren and Gabby is worth noting because of the care she extends towards both. They are more than just friends; they are virtually siblings. And yet there is incredible sadness there, too. Gabby is a damaged, tortured soul who had tried to commit suicide previously. Darren and Monica are very overprotective of her and monitor her closely, but that begins to fade as they both find love interests. My feelings toward Darren harden by the third book; I am no longer in his corner for the thing he says to Monica. The only difference between Monica and Darren is that Monica's love interest happens to have money. And Darren totally twists that into something ugly after Monica helps him with something. Jeeeeeeeeerk alert. Of course, this is during an extremely emotional time, but in my book, if you say it, you're thinking it and he's now a jerk. :(

I am itching for the next books to read to continue Monica and Jonathan's story. There are secrets to be unearthed, jealousies to overcome, and I'm hoping for more of that hot kinky sex because let's face it...it's sexy and fun to read. Fingers crossed for a HEA; you never know when you have such combustible characters!

There is a new ALFA KING in my life and his name is Jonathan Drazen!! Holly Sweet baby Jesus!!! I binged on this series last week and I needed a few days to come down from the high so i can write a bit more calmer. This story is EPIC in scope yet it feels very intimate. C.D. Reiss is a GENIUS!!
