A Spool of Blue Thread (2015) by Anne Tyler is a book that made many long and short list but hasn't won any prizes. I have a lot of Anne Tyler on my shelf but hadn't read any until now, so I have rectified that. I liked this book immediately. I was pulled into the story of this family; hardworking people trying to make things better for themselves, to give their children what they never had.
