Miscellaneous comments first then my overall opinion at the bottom.
I like that he has an addiction he struggles with. He would need to use more at a time to get a high than he's currently taking. I'm a lightweight and one codeine wouldn't knock me off my feet. One Vicodin, yeah, but codeine? Nah. But with habitual use, the effects go down. I was on Percocet and Vicodin after major surgery. After a couple of weeks, the high had gone. They still made me tired but not high.

So far, all the books in this series have been excellent. I love the main character. He's complex and difficult. The supporting characters have depth and unique voices. The plots are great and engrossing. The writing is exceptional.
