I have read multiple times before reading the book that it was sad, that you would cry while reading it. It may not be a completely happy book but I do not see it as a sad book. On the contrary, I laughed while reading it (multiple times). It makes me happy. I see this novel as a book on/about life and while it may sad sometimes, it can be immeasurably happy. The end is beautiful, it is poetic. This book makes you think, during and after.

I began while at a family dinner and so had to wait for the following day to really read it and I thought about it the whole day. I began at 11pm on that day and could not put it away until the end at 3am. I've been thinking about it today. It not only makes you think but it will not let you go that easily.
It is one of those books which leave you wondering and leave a trace on you.
As I have said I do not think this book is sad. It is not pessimistic, it is full of hope (it is the way I perceived it). Everything in it is delicate, delightful, splendid from the characters to the story.
I did not know what was going to happen, I let myself be swallowed by this story, letting myself be surprised with every passing page (choice of words *wink*).
I don't think there really is a need to try to persuade a person to read this work of literature because as soon as you will have read the first few pages, you will not be able to stop and you will want to know the story of Hazel Grace, Augustus, her mother and father, Isaac, everyone.
The writing is fluid, it is written first person which can be risky but here it feels real. Everything feels real and like a dream at the same time. The dialogue are sometimes witty, sometimes full of sadness but always they make you think. I feel many lines, paragraphs, pages of these books could be hanged on the wall and read and read again and again. The speeches (let's call them that way but those of you who have read the book will know) are not perfect, but (I do not really know how to express it) they are good, really good.
I intended to do a review of this book but I just write my thoughts on it instead because I do not feel like writing a review, I do not want to.
I kind of fell in love with this book and these characters. I know I am not the only one. Every person who reads it will feel it in a different way. Because we all have different experiences, different way of seeing, feeling the world but I think everyone can fall in love with this tale of love and life and I hope many people will. ...more
