I couldn't put this book down. I kept wanting to read more about these women cursed to live in interesting times. The author's afterword gave me a good sense of place for the story.

An interesting book about racial segregation. The book is narrated by three women -- two black maids and one white woman. The story is about a black community raising the children of upper-class white families. But in the end, the children they have raised turn out to be as discriminating as their parents. I also watched the movie which was wonderful too.

Heartbreakingly good. I also love that the movie really gives the book justice. I usually don't say that about a movie based on a book.
