Enthralling read. Very similar to the Netflix shows, but I liked the book a bit better. It was a thin book, but I found myself taking my time with the descriptions of each competition as the tension built. I don't play chess or understand the moves, but it was written so I could clearly understand, which is very impressive.

It is rare find - a book by an American writer from 80-es where Russians are not portraited like some crazy people with bottles of vodka, wearing huge fur hats, riding pet-bears.
Good read for people who grew up playing chess and for those who did not.
