I really love this book. It starts out a little rough, with the two false starts before we meet the MC--but I love the slow unfolding of information and the deep questioning of human and alien nature and the power of language. It reminds me a lot of A Memory Called Empire--similar comparisons of culture and emphasis on language, but this book is much more abstract in its plotting and theorizing. A Decent start to a series, I look forward to the rest of the books. It's certainly more of a casual read than a grand literary work; but the emotional tone of the book is easy to get into, and helps guide the plot.
