I feel a bit like my granddad saying this, but this book was splendid.
It's one of the most remarkable and uniquely peculiar books I've ever read; a plot littered with the fantastic and the surreptitious. It reverses age-old notions we have of impious devils and celestial angels, weaving a new myth entirely that draws from religion and yet never depends on it.

This book made me laugh out loud several times. Love that! And it's not an easy thing to do. The premise of this book surprised me. I was kind of ambivalent about the reveal. It was good, don't get me wrong, but the love interests having horns was not a turn on.

THE PLOT
The story starts in Prague with a mysterious art student named Karou who has interesting tattoos, knows kung-fu, and has blue hair (it grows blue out of her head).

Her background is a mystery, all we/she knows is she was raised by demons called Chimaera - beings that are composed of a mixture of animal and human body parts. And she lives two different lifes because of that
''In general, Karou managed to keep her two lives in balance. On the one hand, she was a seventeen-year-old art stude...more

Okay. I admit that books like these aren't what I'd typically read(or listen to) on impulse but, for once I'm glad I did.
THINGS THAT CONTRIBUTED IN MAKING ME GRAB THIS BOOK:
1)The cover. Which you have to admit is pretty awesome.
2)The title. When I read it I was immensely curious. I mean; "Daughter of smoke and bone"? - what does it even want to convey? (Good for me I found out in the end =D)
3)Everyone I know on goodreads loves it. That has to mean something. Right? 4)The final book came out th ...more

This was such an amazing first book in this series. I mean it, this was just plain fantastic!!!!! I really loved it. I saw some good reivews of it on Goodreads and then I saw the book at the library, so I decided to read it. I am so glad that I did. It was good and it was really unique and gave a new fresh part on angels and another different type of race. The plot was really good and put me on the edge of my seat up until the end. The cliffhangers and the switching of the points of views betwee

Let's see where to start. The book was good. I liked it. The beginning was kind of boring I couldn't get a feel of the characters. But I can say my favorite character is Zuzana. She is small but fierce and funny. "Oh, hell. Must. Mate. Immediately". In the words of Zuzana when she first meet Akiva. Was a lol moment for me. the book started to get really good when I discover Karou can fight and that she wasn't one of them damsel in distress types. but when I got towards the end the book went in t
