“Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love.
It did not end well.”
This book is one of my top favorites of 2013. I can't believe it took me so long to read it, even after I'd heard amazing reviews about it. Daughter of Smoke and Bone was an enchanting read, with vivid and imaginative descriptions, and fascinating characters.
Right from the start, I was enthralled. Karou, with her weirdness and errands, was a character I liked from the beginning. She's very different, but she also fe ...more

I have really mixed feelings about Daughter of Smoke and Bone at times I loved it to bits and just could not put it down, but then at some times I wanted to scream and throw the book across the room. Not because the book was bad but because I was just getting so frustrated with it.

But then it all came together clearly, perfectly - there were no catches or mistakes. It was a beautiful, sad, different, stubborn story of forbidden love, hate, war, bloo ...more

I thought I was going to end up giving this book a three star, but once I've reached around page 300, everything got so good!
