From the Bookshelf of The Wide Web of Friends in YA Books…

I'm going to start this review off with a disclaimer:
I know the author, and I am very biased on this one! We got that book twin thing going on! :D



Now that the confessional portion of my review is over let's get to it folks!

I think the fact that I enjoyed this book won't come as a surprise to anyone. If it does, then you didn't read my disclaimer did you? Shame! ;)
However, even without my bias I would have enjoyed it. It hit everything

However, even without my bias I would have enjoyed it. It hit everything on my "cute book" list.

Cute leading man? Check

Strong and confident leading lady? Check!

Great secondary characters and awesome scenery? Double check!

This book was sugary sweet and I loved it!

Lake, a recent highschool graduate, is sent by her parents to spent the summer with her aunt in London. Before she has a chance to get used to staying in her aunt's house, Lake finds out that she is now going to be spending her summer on a cramped tour bus helping her aunt do hair and makeup for a band.
To her surprise, the band is the insanely popular, international phenomenon Separate Ways.

Lake has a few nerves at first, but she gets the hang of things eventually and manages to do it all without drooling all over the band. She wasn't easily phased by the things that were thrown at her, and she had the confidence to deal with being out of her comfort zone. The girl was spunky!

Sometimes I felt like she was almost too perfect. She had so many different talents. She could, cook, sing, write, and take professional grade photographs. I'm even leaving out a few of her talents because I don't want to ruin some of the surprises.

The thing that kept her from being annoyingly perfect and boring was just how real she was. She wasn't intimidated by Dais' fame, money and good looks, but she had some insecure moments that were completely understandable. She was also crazy funny! I had more than one laugh out loud moment that came from her.

This is one of my favorite Lake observations:

"And you don't even know my family. We're like rabies, we fester,make you go crazy, and most of the time, my mother is foaming at the mouth. So please tell me your family is like a heart attack. A nice, quick death instead of long term torture."

Dais was fantastic! He was very sweet and treated Lake with respect. That was a nice change of pace from the regular alpha playboy that I'm used to reading. He frustrated me by being to serious at times, but that was also one of his most endearing traits. Lake was frustrated with his serious nature, but she accepted him for who he was and learned to work with him instead of trying to change him. That's was something that I don't read much. They didn't try to change each other; they just accepted the fact that you're not going to like everything about someone. That shouldn't stop you from learning to live with their crazy. Lake could be blunt, and Dais could be too serious, but that's just apart of what made them who they were. They didn't need fixing! :D

Their was an adorable side story that focused on Tori, Lake's best friend and Silas, one of Dais' band mates. They were both very immature and adorable! I liked their story almost as much as Dais and Lake's!

If you're in the mood for some sweetness, you won't go wrong with this story!


This book was squeaky clean. You would feel comfortable giving it to your grandma or your ten-year old niece.
