This book is a series of interconnected stories about the inhabitants of Blackwell, Massachusetts, from its founding in colonial times to the present-day. Each generation has a story of love, loss, and the search for identity and purpose. Hoffman's writing is beautiful, measured, and hypnotic. I always feel like I could start reading the book again from the beginning right after I finish. It isn't a sensation I feel with any other writer. ...more
