I first read this book when I was in high school, back when dinosaurs walked the earth, people still thought digital watches were a pretty cool idea, and mobile phones were the size of a suitcase.
I enjoyed it at least as much this time. Humor is subjective, and I still find it bloody hilarious! If you don't enjoy Monty Python-esque British humor it may not be your cup of Earl Grey, but it still works for me! I had heard a lot about the book series,so I finally managed to get hold of the book.The concept is funny but after reading it for some time you feel as though Douglas has just written it for the sake of writing..he just rambles on and on ..Some of the incidents are really funny but it would be do with some editing...I liked the robot- Marvin the best.Maybe watching this on tv would be betetr than reading.
This was my first time reading this book (I know, I have the audacity to consider myself a nerd, and I have never read this?!), and I really had no idea what to expect... I have not seen the movies or the tv series, and I admit I really didn't have any idea what the general plot was. I should be ashamed, but it really made for a great experience! I had no expectations.
