This one was a pleasant surprise for me. The synopsis sounded interesting and I was intrigued. It was dark, but not as dark as some I'm used to reading, but that didn't keep me from loving this book! It kept me on the edge of my seat and comes with one helluva twist!

The synopsis of this book makes it sound like just a romance between a prison nurse and inmate but there is SOOO much more to the story!! Without giving too much away, suggestions are made to Lyla that X might have been set up and she starts to look into his case. I was sure the story was going one way and then it did a complete turn I never saw coming that really surprised me. That twist led to another and an ending that blew me away! I lot of people seemed to really like this book, but it just did not work for me.

I'd read some of the reviews, and more than a few people said that it was pretty average until you got to the ending - which they felt was amazing. I pushed through the book, waiting for the big payoff, and then - ugh. I hated it.

I felt like there were lots of things that were introduced to try to throw the reader off course - and then they just hung out there. And Lyla? I didn't care too much what happened to her, ...more
