I wanted to love this book, but I just couldn’t. Everyone talks around things in this book, but never seem to get to the point. Some of the character’s actions didn’t make sense and the mystery in the end was ok. I can’t put my finger on what I wished was better, but I wanted more direct interaction.

In one moment, Quinn is due to be hanged, and opts to help a pregnant widow by marrying her. The next moment he is named a Duke. Not only is he a Duke but he also as a bride. Will they stay together? Will he find out who wanted him dead? Great historical read with plenty of drama and suspense. I really liked Quinn and Jane and the story really draws you in. I loved it!

I may be rounding up a little, but not much.

The only uninspired aspect of this Regency romance is the title. The starting situation is unusual and (to indulge in a pun) arresting, and both main characters and several secondary ones are well drawn and original. There's an enjoyable vein of humor that pops up unpredictably, and the plot has surprises without undue complexity. I'll be reading the second book in this series and trying some of the other series from the same author.
