The thing is, she doesn't remember it the same way. In her mind, one day they were the best of childhood friends, doing all their firsts together, and the next, he had ghosted her. For two months she tried to go to his house or call him until she decided she wouldn't try anymore.

Roscoe was good at avoiding Simone when she was in town visiting, but now that she's back living with her family and working at the Diner, he can't seem to avoid her. To the point that Simone is forcing him to remember what occurred and she wants to talk about it.

But what is Simone really after and will Roscoe understand when it all comes to light?

If you know me, you know I'm a die hard Penny Reid Fan. She can do no wrong with me. This Winston Brothers book was a bit different. Loved Roscoe and his quirkiness, his memory and how it affected the way he dealt with people. I can only imagine how difficult it is to talk to people when you remember everything they say and do.

I also loved that Simone was just as quirky in her own way. She was extremely smart and thought a little too much about things before proceeding. She questioned everything, even her own feelings.

But... This book left me with so many opened questions. Like what's going on with Billy, Simone's sister Dani, and Curtis? Was Strickland really working with Razor Dennings? What happens with Darrell?

Note that this book has cute and slightly funny moments, but to me it was definitely a bit more intense than previous books in the series.

I thought Penny did a great job explaining Simone's interaction with law enforcement and the parental conversation had with all the children of the family. I also thought the conversation Simone had with her mother about Strickland was interesting. I'm on the side of her mom.

I loved how the Payton's were with Roscoe. How excited they were when it looked like he and Simone were getting close again.

Again, I really enjoyed the read, but it's very different than previous Winston stories... so be prepared. I'm obviously trying to review without giving anything away. Read it when it's available and you will get what I'm talking about. ...more

I am a huge Penny Reid fan and while this book has lots of elements that I love about her writing (strong, smart heroines, quirks, and steadfast heroes) for me the side plot of the mystery/FBI case and other drama got in the way of the romance a bit.

Simone is badass and it is clear to see why Roscoe has always loved her. I like her High IQ , sexual agency and the frank discussion of being black in the south. However, her character motivation in regards not really seeing Roscoe for so long a the ...more

- [ ] Roscoe Winston and Simone Payton are not strangers to each other. In fact, they used to be best friends but Simone broke his heart and our story resumes 10 years later. This book had quite a bit of action and craziness but the writing is funny and keeps you wanting to find out what happens next. I love finding more out about the Winston family.

Simone Payton | Roscoe Winston

This book gets 5 stars just for Roscoe alone. He has to be my favorite Winston. There were many times throughout this book that I wished that he was real and mine, but that scene with the puppies was so sweet. I can imagine that being the youngest of the Winston's is hard, especially when you have siblings that still want to see you as the baby. Then he has to deal with the memory issue. I can completely understand the decisions he's made in his life.
