I was charmed by Khai and Esme. I love all the families here.
Esme is lovely and brave. Watching her fall in love with Khai is great.
I love a marriage of connivence kind of plot and tie that in with a celebration of immigrants and I am in.
Esme has her own journey of finding her value and Khai's in finding his value as well around the depth of his emotions though they are processed differently than others.

Khai and Esme had double the barriers between then Michael and Stella did. If everyone would have been honest the barrier wouldn't have been there.
Khai has autism, which no one told Esme until he mentioned, but it still wasn't explained to her what that meant. So there were misunderstandings constantly between them.
Esme is not as educated as she leads Khai to believe, but it still wouldn't have been a problem if it was explained at someone.
