2.5 stars. Not one of Marian's best, although I am aware her battles with depression have affected her writing in recent years. These characters were totally unlikable, especially Ryan and Jeffrey, and I struggled to relate to the main characters. There was unnecessary repetition, and the story took so long to get to the actual life-stealing of the title. The scenes in the hospital were the best parts, emotional and heartbreaking, but Stella didn't seem to learn anything from that experience and
