3.5 stars

4 ½ stars for the series. A nice escape - being in a small town for a while.
This review is for all four books.
I’ve read two Molly Harper books in the past and was not wowed enough to buy more. They were both told in 1st person. But when I saw this new series being told in 3rd person I thought I’d try it. And yes, I really enjoyed it. Why is it that I feel like I can relax and enjoy a 3rd person book, but 1st person seems stressful?

I really enjoyed this first book in a new series by Molly Harper. The two main characters, Margot Cary and Kyle Archer, were ones I found very engaging and likable. I really enjoyed watching them get to know one another.
The book had plenty of charm and whimsy, with the McCready family and small town Georgia setting. Margot's parents divorced when she was young, and she doesn't know her father or his family. She goes to work in the family business out of desperation, but quickly develops emotion ...more

I adore Molly Harper. Jane Jameson is someone I would be besties with Her humor is on the spot every time.
I liked the humor in this book but something about it fell flat for me. That makes me so sad to say. I’m stumped as to why as well. Honestly I might read it again soon to see if maybe it just was bad timing.

Just read this for a second time. I adore Molly Harper. Living in the South I enjoy fun stories taking place in the South, which this one is. A bit offbeat and a eccentric family. I laughed so much reading this book, especially the second time. This is just the beginning of a series. Love the story about the paint by number Jesus pieces!! What a priceless story and a fabulous family!!!

Molly Harper's new series is still quirky but perhaps not as laugh-out-loud as some of her other work. This story has heart, centred around Margot Cary's reunion with her estranged father's family after a hilarious turn of events leads her to lose her job as an event planner. I really enjoyed the cast of secondary characters and will be reading book 2 very soon.
