This love story feels like real life turning good for once.

It's not everyday that a forty-year-old female character uproots her downtrodden life to work in Spain as a physical therapist for young football players. And both the drama and the exhilarating passion happen just because of that.

I really liked Thalia. She's lived her life as best she could, with dreams and upheavals and lots of heartbreak she's trying to recover from by changing her life for the better, taking risks. She might act sca This love story feels like real life turning good for once.

I really liked Thalia. She's lived her life as best she could, with dreams and upheavals and lots of heartbreak she's trying to recover from by changing her life for the better, taking risks. She might act scared when her sudden liason with a young, hot, lovely footballer shatters her plans and puts all of it in jeopardy , but she's always a fighter, always relatable.

What can I say about Alejo? The buyoancy of youth, the beauty of his smile. He seduces her with sweet banter and heart-warming support, yet is hot-headed and faces risk with no regard to the future. The constrast is strong, exciting. I liked the references to Spanish culture such as in Christmas and the natural conversations.

This couple is inevitable, though they tread carefully at first due to its forbidden nature. Too much at risk. The excitement of giving in, though, sets the pages/screen on fire when they do fall into skin-to-skin tempation. Hot times ahead!! The swimming pool scene, my friends, is epic...

And regarding the drama. Oh, well, something is weighing heavily on Thalia's shoulders that really is so moving when she confesses to Alejo. My heart went out to her at that moment. And he always knows how to comfort her. So sweet. Of course, this secretive relationship soon explodes in their hands and everyone's reactions threatens their unexpected happiness. What will Thalia do? Is this love forever or just a fling? I was fretting!

This woman’s journey to find herself is arduous and true. The day Thalia and Alejo face each other again is narrated with a passionate voice and set in the perfect place to elicit all kinds of powerful emotions. Frenzy, longing, total love, absolution and crushing loss. I loved that turning point!

I really enjoyed the reconciliation full of so much life and devotion. It may be a sports romance, yet it has a lot of soul. And let's not forget the Spanish hottie 😁 ...more

The Younger Man by Karina Halle strikes the perfect balance of heart-pounding romance and steam but it has an emotional side to it as well.

Thalia has just had a really bad year, a painful divorce that has played out in the public eye. There is no way she will stay with Manchester United as their physical therapist, having to see her ex every day. When she gets a chance to move to Madrid as a physical therapist for the Real Madrid, she jumps at the chance. Who wouldn’t?

Thalia just wants an opportunity to start over. She wants to find some happiness, and she definitely deserves it. The one thing she isn’t looking for is a relationship...until Alejo Albarado entered her life. She knew there was something special about him the first time she saw him. He’s forbidden. Not only is he the star player of the team, but he is seventeen years younger than her.

Alejo, like Thalia, has known loss. Halle gave her readers that part of his life from the very beginning of the book. He has worked tirelessly his entire life to provide for his mother and brother. His perseverance made me respect him so much, not only in overcoming a tragic event in his past but in his pursuit of Thalia as well.

I really enjoyed Halle’s style of writing. She included some scenes from the games, and I felt like a spectator in the stands. Her descriptive writing really made me feel like I was in the quaint bars or on the island that Alejo took Thalia to.

I also felt an empathy for these characters. They each experienced loss in a different way, but it made it harder for them to trust other people. It was nice to see them knock each other’s defenses down and really grow as people. It wasn’t just a new start with someone else, but it was a new way of life for them, a really happy one!!!

I wasn’t sure how I would like this book. I haven’t read a great deal of forbidden romances, but Karina Halle did a phenomenal job. Yes, this is a work of fiction, but she made the story very realistic. She touched on many reasons why some would hesitate to be involved in that type of relationship. However, her characters found a way to overcome those obstacles. She proved that love knows no age!
