I really enjoyed this book. I love a good paranormal aspect, and the book was a wonderful read that you find hard to put down once you get started.

This story begins with Ember Brycin, teenager and local outcast! She's had a hard life with her mom being murdered when she was just a child. She has a tattoo and different colored eyes. She is witty and sarcastic and all around different than you would expect. She goes through phases of having hallucinations that make her feel like shes going crazy. I really enjoyed this book. She is witty and sarcastic and all around different than you would expect. She goes through phases of having hallucinations that make her feel like shes going crazy. She has weird things happen when she is around and cannot explain what the cause behind it is, which eventually lands her in some hot water.

She is sent to a juvie type school and meets the mysterious Eli Dragen. Sexy and dangerous, Ember doesn't understand what her instant attraction to him is but knows it's more than just a crush. They are constantly thrown together into situations that create such an intense tension between the two of them that you can literally feel the heat!

With Eli there is more than meets the eye. There are times when he cant seem to stay away from Ember and other times where he could care less and would rather be anywhere than near her. He is the naughty, hot, classic bad boy that every girl wants and should stay away from. Always has a dirty comeback for anything and full of sexual innuendos that will make you laugh and maybe blush a little if they were said to you.

“It’s a little early in our relationship for us to be ‘surmounting,’ but, hey, I’m game if you are. I’ll even let you be on top.” He looked directly at me, a coy smile playing on his lips.”

Ember doesn't know it yet but she will soon come to face some truths about herself that she may not be ready to deal with. This is a classic good VS evil with a slight twist because you're not quite sure who is the good and who is the evil. Not all is as it seems. Ember finds that coincidences may not have been coincidences at all. She will have to make decisions whether she likes them or not to help herself, her friends and her family.

“Once the truth is out, there’s no going back. And you will wish you could.”

The secondary characters are funny. I love that they play off each other, and it feels right. It doesn't seem that they were just thrown in and they compliment the main characters very well. These are real conversations that you could have with any of your friends. The plot line is smooth and easy to follow and keep you guessing as to what is going to happen. There is an unexpected love triangle that I'm sure will explain a little further in the second book. I'm excited to see where that goes and what Ember will decide for her and the fate of her loves ones. Stacey did a great job and I'm looking forward to more Darkness of Light. ...more

This is a fantastic book I read it in less than two days I couldn't stop every free second I had I dove right back in .The characters and story are so well written .Its one of the best I've read and I can't wait for the second book in this series .I want more more more .Embers sarcasm , smart mouth and her feelings of not fitting in were aspects I could really relate to and made her so much more real to me .I especially love that shes no damsel in distress shes a fighter .
