Book Review Summer 2019 English. Class 9B

I revisited Fledgling for this project, it was the first book in the series. I normally mostly read books on dragons, Eragon is my favourite book of all time but this novel. But In The Jason Steed series the main character seems to have stuck with me, you fall in love with him as the series goes on.

But In The Jason Steed series the main character seems to have stuck with me, you fall in love with him as the series goes on.
Fledgling is where it all started, we see a young boy being brought up by nannies and a strict father who often spanks his young son and sends him to his room for the smallest of things.
Jason starts out in a loveless life, he finds a purpose and takes up karate and judo. Even though young he attends classes four times a week, and has to compete with much older boys twice his size. Little does he know as he gets older this will actually save his life.
We see Jason cry, laugh and go beyond what anyone should have to do on missions let alone a boy. The story is original and exciting, I don't think the author is the best writer but the story is so on-point.
I have to admit, I did cry at one-chapter. The connection between father and son was magical, both not understanding at first that they do really love and care about each other.
Originally I gave it 4 stars but after reading it again for this English project I increased it to 5.
As I read the rest of the series you grow with Jason, he goes through puberty and feels the same feelings we feel. It is cleverly written but as I am 14 now myself I understand what he is going through and how he comes to understand new feelings in his body and starts to admire others people and look at them in a different way. In book 4, Face-Off (Now aged 13) he slams doors at home and got really upset when he found out they had security camera's in his bathroom, threatening to quit the mission unless they were removed. I can understand why.
Book 6 he is now 14 and he and his best friend Scott have grown up to my age now. I like the novels because they have no curse words, they are very exciting, the action is non stop, they have emotion, some people do die as they would in that situation which make them real life. I hope we have another in the series, so far it has 6.
Compare Books. I would compare it with Alex Rider or the CHERUB books, but Jason is more like real-life. ...more
