Full review on my Blog: The Dacian She-Wolf 🐺
me: *seeing the whole anarchy this book has created* I wonder if I too can ruin my life

Oh, behold the majestic weird shit that I am, reading my first Leigh Bardugo book ever!
YES. You may laugh at me and judge me and all that, but honestly, this book has created some serious anarchy after publication, a type of anarchy that made me stop and think: “If this book makes people feel so intense, then it is a make it or break it for me for sure” ...more

Definitely want to read this one. This author has given us the totally beautiful and evocative Midnight tales and the culturally inadequate (and ludicrous!) Grisha sequence... LMAO!
If she manages not to delve into cultures she has no idea about, she might pull this one off as a worthwhile read.
Anyway, the protagonist's name, Galaxy Stern (Star from German) totally bought me.

As someone who has been interested in checking out Leigh Bardugo's books for several years, I really wanted to love Ninth House. Sadly, Ninth House ultimately proved to be a rather mediocre book, in my opinion. As far as the characters go, Darlington was definitely my favorite character in the book, and I really wish that he had been featured in the book more than he was. Alex was also a good and likable character, but I ultimately just liked Darlington the most.

I am so glad I decided to reread this book before getting to Hell Bent. It was just as good, if not, even better the second time around. I literally love everything about this book. The Dark Academia vibes, the world, the magic, the idea and concept of the houses and secret societies and the grays, the writing but ESPECIALLY THE CHARACTERS AND THE PLOT!!
Alex Stern is that bitch, still that bitch and will forever be that bitch. I love her so much, truly one of my favourite characters ever.

I'm officially cancelling ninth house for myself. Damn... This was not my cup of tea. I have zero shits or fucks about the plot or the characters. I literally didn't care for Alex. She was kinda annoying and so many of her choices had me like ?????? Also, so many people are gushing about how amazing Darlington is but y'all are missing out on the sweetest most amazing tough cookie that is my baby Dawes. Dawes and Turner were literally the only characters I truly cared ...more

....What to say? this was extremely dissapointing.
I have read other books by this author like Shadow and Bone & Six of Crows and really liked those books. I am also excited to read King of Scars when i get to that. But this book was meh at best... i had such high hopes but it was shattered. Alex was boring and annoying...i didn`t see any character development, nor anything that made her memorable or make her like her. Daniel was actually a little interesting so he gets most of those stars. ...more

Unfortunately, I can't give it more. I liked the last half of the book better than the first, it finally had some spunk and action. I didn't like Alex at first, she was an acquired taste for me, but Darlington was the best and Dawes as well.
In my opinion, it was a bit overhyped, it didn't grip me like other books from Bardugo. Was it worth sticking with it until the end? I don't know, I want to say yes because the ending was really good and the plot twists super unexpected but it was h ...more

This is one of the darkest books I've ever read, but I enjoyed every last bit of it. The characters were all great in their own way, very realistic in the sense that they all had their own flaws. The twists and turns kept me guessing the whole way through.

1st reread 2023. This story is still very enjoyable. Original review - Holy wow! I love this. The main character is a "screw up", but gets the opportunity to go to Yale provided she join a group that helps regulate the research of the occult at the college. There is murder, mystery and history sprinkled in the book with a little fantasy dumped on top. It was such a fun, fresh read!!!

Dark and completely twisted. Likeable characters with messed up morals. Creepy magic.
Yeah, I get the hype now.
