Counter-factuals are fun, steampunk is fun, subverting fantasy tropes is fun - all in all, this is an enjoyable book. Of course, you have to set aside any misgivings you might have that an 1880s America in a world where the Roman (Ruman) empire never fell would be quite so much like our world from the start, but other than that, there is so much to enjoy about this book.
