The length of time it took me to finish this is no indication of how good a book it is. I did find it very slow to start, and if not for my curiosity about the preface and the first major event as the book starts I might have stopped reading it entirely. But I pushed ahead and I'm very glad I did. A great mix of RPF, mystery and history, I thoroughly enjoyed how Pearl told his story through a real life activity and passion of these men.
