I almost didn’t buy this book from a poor review I read on Amazon that didn’t finish the book, but something inside me asked, how could so many other people absolutely rave about it? So I gave this new author a chance and am so thankful I did. You can’t judge this book if you don’t finish it till the end. I think this is such a misunderstood read by mediocre minded people who lack to see the depth in this book. Yes, there are some disturbing scenes, but they should be! The author deftly navigate

"First Night Summer" is an emotionally-charged psychological thriller set in Ruidoso, New Mexico, a quiet mountain town where Issac and Sarah Snow live with their twin daughters- Josie and Caroline. After the girls are publicly acclaimed for their heroic rescue of a four year old they are stalked by a psychotic pedophile whose sexual gratification comes from torturing, raping, and killing young girls. After the thwarted kidnapping of the twins and a tragic death, the family continues to be haunt

In a world where every second person is a self-proclaimed writer, myself included, it's easy to forget what makes a debut author stand out among all the other newly published books. It is because they have distinct talent and are good. Let me rephrase that, they are damn good and it sets them apart from the rest of the newbies. Landon Parham is a case in point. While this book may appear to be your run-of-the-mill thriller at first glance, it thoroughly disabuses you of that notion within just a

Let me start by saying that to read this book you will need plenty of time and a box of kleenex. I tearing up by chapter seven. I can watch a movie and feel the emotion from the actors and see the nuances of there expresses and am not surprised by tears. Reading a book usually requires my imagination to fill in those expressions and its rare for me to get so deep into it that tears will fall but this book was impossible not to feel every emotion. Putting the book down was difficult and at times

Wow. A very quick read once I sat down and started it. I rarely read a book in 3 days. Although the subject matter was a bit disturbing for me since I have a young daughter, it was a GOOD book. It was very well written. I put him in a category with the likes of James Patterson or Patricia Cornwell. I look forward to the next one!!

This debut book rivals some of the best in the suspense/ thriller genre. It definitely doesn't read like a first novel. I was captivated from the beginning by the colorful characters and was clinging to the edge of my seat till the very end. I could not put it down, and when I tried I caught myself still thinking about it. Satisfied with the ending, I was sad that the story was over. I felt connected to these characters and longed for more. A must read!!! He is the new, young Richard Castle.

VERY well-written and engrossing.
First Night of Summer is my literary surprise of the year. While there are many thrillers out there that lead the reader through a series of twists and turns, always keeping the stakes at life or death, there are few that can honestly captivate me from the inside out, touching places and chords seldom felt outside of my own tragedies or honest-to-God danger. First Night of Summer did exactly that. It affected me in places a book does not normally affect. It sang ...more

Landon Parham plays by his own set of rules in this debut suspense novel, First Night of Summer. The sequences were intricately woven with captivating characters and full of rich detail. Sometimes graphic in nature---walking right up to that line but careful not to cross it. Ricky Doors is a new level of villian as that people like him actually exist in our toxic society. Humanity can be cruel and inhuman whether we choose to recognize it or not. Isaac Snow and his family are forced to recognize

Fascinating, clever and chilling.
First, I loved that the setting takes place in Ruidoso, New Mexico with such vast, beautiful landscape. Let me preface this review by saying, this novel maybe hard to read in some parts, but it doesn't make it any less brilliant. Filled with heartfelt moments, the first section is devastating as you the reader witness that the lives of these children are brutally cut short. It is amazing how Parham is able to create such intense suspense despite the reader being ...more

Masterfully written. This haunting tale is full of twists and turns that keep you guessing. It is a mystery but different than most in that you know who the killer is from the beginning. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy the topic of child murders but the author does a fantastic job. It is more about the family's strength and justice rather than Ricky's motives. Great summer read and have recommended it to many.
