From start to finish, this book was nothing short of SPECTACULAR! It is longer than most science/ medicine books, but do not let that deter you. I was extremely sad when this book ended. I wanted more!

This is a well-written and engaging narrative following recent disease crossovers from wild or domestic animals into human populations. Quammen tells the story of these zoonotic diseases with a near-perfect mix of science and human interest. Quammen carefully explains the science behind each discovery he covers here, while giving sympathetic portraits of those who research into and work with these diseases.
