My favourite classic.

In truth, Mark Twain might have ruined this book for me. Recently, I read "Who is Mark Twain" by Mark Twain. He has a short essay on Austin and basically talks about how much he hates all the characters. That perhaps Austin wanted to make disagreeable characters.
So I started reading Pride and Prejudice and found myself actually enjoying the charachters, loving the dialogue and interested in the plot line. But, in the back of my mind Mark Twain kept telling me to look deeper.

I liked the first part and the ending. Both were humerous, warm and full of Victorian style, wit and lovable characters. However, the middle 200 pages or so were frivolous and unentertaining. Pure Victorian Fluff.

Never thought I'd like a novel set in this time period, but this book is AMAZING. The wit, the sass, the plot turns. Love it. And love the BBC version with Colin Firth. He makes a yummy Darcy.

One of my top three all time favourite books! No matter what page I open the book at, I am hooked and I read it to the end! Gotta love Mr Darcy's sullen and haughty brooding!
