I loved this book from the moment I started it. It's a very easy book to get into and the pace builds up nicely. There are lots of characters in the book and they are all very well written.

Dan Torrance, grew up to be an alcoholic like his father but after a one night stand which haunts him ended up staying in a town and joining AA. He meets Abra, and I absolutely love this girl. She's like Dan, and he ends up helping her out.

Great read

This is an example of Stephen King on top of his game. The narrative flow is smooth and easy. The story follows Dan, the boy from The Shining, into adulthood as he learns to use his gift and to deal with a really nasty group that is feeding on people like him.
The story starts with King type shock scenes and moves quickly into the main storyline. The villains are well crafted as are the main characters. Without giving away spoilers, the end did become fairly obvious early on. The story

"Doctor Sleep" is the sequel to "The Shining", and as such, I expected a little more of the horror element that is prevalent in King's classic novels. It wasn't there. Instead, what we get in this book is a surreal adventure involving Dan Torrance, Abra Stone (a little girl with "The Shining"), their friends, and a group of evil creatures called the "True Knot" who disguise themselves as humans.
