I have set myself a target to read 25 Modern Classics this year and that is the only reason I decided to read this book.
What a disappointment, I really couldn't get to grips with the use of the authors invented language and slang and it made the book very difficult to follow and I decided not to waste any more time reading this tripe.

Somehow I had never read this book nor seen the film.

The slang or nadsat makes it initially quite difficult to get into the book, yet it grows on you when reading the book. I didn’t consult any glossary or looked up terms as I felt things fell into a place after a while though the slang really clicked when Alex went home. Burgess uses nadsat as a very clever and cruel device to be able to tell the horrible deeds.
