I loved this book the most out of the five books written so far. I think its as its the introduction to all the characters before the wars start. And these books are vast in scope, in both the size of the world and the amount of characters that live there. I have my favourite people and Aryah is just one of them.

Wow! I just don't know where to begin about how wonderful I found this book. I cannot remember being so captured by a story as I was with this one and can't believe it took me so long to finally get to reading it.

Martin is an artist with how well he has constructed this epic world and how it draws you in with every chapter. I found myself totally engrossed in this novel while reading it as the writing is descriptive without being overly so and the story is so well written that you can almost sme ...more

Okay . . . I couldn't finish this book, and I gave it such a chance, too. I would be digging one of the characters then all of a sudden that chapter would end and I'd be thrown into another chapter that featured that on character only. It's like a book that contains a bunch of mini-books, the characters never really mixed I guess. I got pretty frustrated, throw in the middle ages grammar and stuff and I was thoroughly bored. Action was rare. I was pretty upset about it, too. I was on vacation an ...more
