I know it is recognised as a 'Classic' but I found this novel very dull and wordy.

Another classic I can cross off my list now. To be honest I have attempted Shelley's Frankenstein a few times and each time gave up before I was even a few pages in. I knew the story because of the movies of course...sad to admit to, I know. But finally, in order to help out my teenager with an English Lit paper I persevered and I'm glad I did. Well this was a boring read in the begging. Bad enough so, that I almost didn't continue reading. But, when the monster takes over the narrative the book becomes beyond bearable and even excellent. If the entire book would have even rivaled the monsters narrative it would have garnished 4 stars, but the terrible 1st volume brought it down.
