This book took me an incredibly long time to get into. While this touches on a very delicate subject that has impacted many families across our country, I had a very hard time empathizing with the main character and caring what happened in her story. The last 100 or so pages went very quick as things finally started to come together, but really for me this could have been a much shorter book.

"Connor can do bad things," Kacey says, "but he's not all bad. Almost nobody is."
I didn't really know that much about this book before diving in, and despite that, I found myself sucked into this story of two sisters. It's both a mystery and a story of familial bonds and Moore tells the story incredibly well. An enjoyable read. ...more

Overall, the prose is nice, characterization excellent, and it generally kept my attention. The relationship between Mickey & Kacey is well done and moving. However, it did feel overly long and as a reader, I would've liked either the serial killer aspect to be eliminated or a bit more emphasis on it, especially since that has been marketed as a thriller.
