Loved it! Ticked all my boxes of what I like in a mystery. An intricate plot (that still was reasonable enough), a satisfying but surprising conclusion, lovable characters along the way. It was fun how it was able to have both the professional detective and the amateur sleuth. The mystery in the first one (The Stranger Diaries) was stronger, but in that book I didn't feel connected to the main character H

Several people with loose connections die in natural and violent ways in multiple locations over a few weeks. An odd trio of characters plus a detective are on the case(s). England & Scotland. Book community - writers, book bloggers, editor, publicist, and little old ladies who read golden era crime fiction.
