X's story had me turning the pages and anticipating how her story would unfold. Reminded me a lot of Raquel Cepeda's Bird of Paradise. These might be two good books to read together, for book club, class, etc. Read for Mock Printz 2019.

WOW, just wow...speechless after listening to this short but powerful book. I feel like listening to it all over again and I might! Prose so beautiful, feelings so fucking raw, words so powerful. 5 stars are not even close enough to describe the power of these words ... put together, said together. If you are a 15 year old girl or a 45 year old women (even though this 45 year old is not Afro-Latina or a poet) you will get it!!!! All the feels, such and amazing book!
