I really enjoyed this murder mystery. Wasn't too spooky and felt very meta since it was a writer writing about a writer who was writing a book. I like the second plot most of all as it kept me engaged the whole time and looking forward to what was next. I also really liked all of the characters which is rare. ...more

I liked this one, but it was very complicated. I started on audiobook and realized that wasn't going to work and started over with the paper book. Even after finishing I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the premise. The author is writing the fictional story of an author writing a story who is friends with several authors writing stories and each chapter ends with the fictional author corresponding with yet another author who is also writing a story??? This was a very different way of presenting a murder mystery.
The main story is actually being written by an author.
The back story, written in a different font, is what is happening in the author's life as she writes her book.
It held my attention and had enough characters to keep the mystery going until the final chapters.
