I recommend and endorse all of the ideas herein, especially after using a couple of these substances in the past couple of years. I was surprised that Pollan's usually tight structure and control of material fell away a bit here; the relationship between the various sections of the story was unclear at times, especially the mushroom interlude in chapter 2. Big props to Pollan for approaching this subject the way he did, respectfully and with an open mind and even searching out these experiences for himself. I did get a bit bored with some of the more dry sections.
